HOLY
BAUBLE!
-Guy Babineau Why not wear something that says "West End" like nothing else? The folks at www.wayoutwest.tv have branded some sporty clothing and accessories to promote the campy soap operas posted on their site. One of the shows, in streaming video, is Pimp & Ho: Licence to Queer, a "queersploitation" series about a transvestite hooker and her pimp partner who fight West End crime, gunning down scum with blow dryers. On the site, you can purchase items like a Licence to Queer backpack with a picture of the shows stars ($28.99) and an all-cotton Pimp & Ho T-shirt ($19.99). |

GEEK OF THE WEEK -Guy Babineau An on-line show featuring a pimp, a transvestite prostitute, and "Baby DJ", who fight organized crime with blow dryers that shoot "gay-rays", turning gangsters into self-actualized drag queens? A vampire flick starring bloodsucking trannies? A soap opera about a sexy young man who moves from Alberta to the West End and comes out of the closet? This is Vancouver like youve never seen it before. Watched by people in 59 countries, wayoutwest.tv (www.wayoutwest.tv) may be a bit raw, awkwardly written, and amateurishly acted, but the camera work and editing are spot on, and the energy is fabulous. |
