- The aim of OUT IN THE SILENCE is to expand public
awareness about the difficulties that GLBT people
face in rural and small town America and promote dialogue
that will help people...
on
all sides of the issues find common ground.
"Out
in Silence" is one hour documentary for television,
captures the remarkable chain of events that unfold
after the filmmaker's (Joe Wilson)own same-sex wedding
announcement ignites a firestorm of controversy and
a quest for change in his hometown in the hills of
northwestern Pennsylvania.
Joe
is drawn back by a plea for help from the mother of
a gay teen who is being tormented at school, the filmmaker
takes an exhilarating journey through love, hate,
and understanding in rural America.
The
film is supported by the Sundance Documentary Film
Program and the Pennsylvania Public Television Network.
