of Los Angeles (Bruce Bellas) moved from the midwest
to Los Angeles, California in 1947 and began photographing/filming
the local bodybuilders.
His
impact on physique photography is widely recognized,
and the works of Robert Mapplethorpe, Herb Ritts,
and Bruce Weber are considered to be influenced by
Bellas' pioneering style.
