Boys , A TV mini-series by Public Television explores
Taiwan's underground gay culture based on a gay-themed
1983 novel, Crystal Boys by Pai Hsieng-Yung. It became
one of the most popular series on Taiwanese TV.
Without
a doubt Crystal Boys is one of the most popular drama
series.. In 2003 it garnered more Golden Bell Awards
than any other series, grabbing six prizes, including
the best TV series award. It was so successful, it
became a cash cow for PTS, which has granted its copyright
to two TV stations in Hong Kong and three in Taiwan.
